HISTORICAL FICTION NOVEL

New Release

In modern-day Los Angeles, Neely has built the life she always dreamed of, yet she is haunted by memories and emotions she cannot explain. More than three centuries earlier, Cornelia Suythof, the forgotten daughter of Rembrandt van Rijn, leaves Amsterdam to build a remarkable life in the Dutch East Indies after her father's death. As their stories unfold in parallel, unexpected connections emerge through art, love, motherhood, and loss, leading Neely to question whether some bonds can transcend time itself. Richly researched and inspired by true historical events, UNDER REMBRANDT'S WATCHFUL EYE is a sweeping novel about memory, legacy, and the enduring mystery of the human soul.

About the author

Irene Krasniansky is an artist, designer, preservationist, and storyteller whose lifelong passion for art history inspired her debut historical novel.

A graduate of ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, she has spent more than two decades working as a creative director while maintaining a deep fascination with fine art.

Her love of Rembrandt extends beyond his paintings to the people who surrounded him—the apprentices, patrons, collectors, and especially his daughter, Cornelia, whose largely untold story became the inspiration for this novel. Through research into seventeenth-century Amsterdam, Dutch art, and Rembrandt's work, Irene sought to imagine the world through Cornelia's eyes, blending historical fact with richly imagined fiction.

When she is not writing, Irene and her husband devote their time to restoring and preserving historic buildings, believing that every old structure—and every forgotten story—deserves a second chance. Their work reflects the same appreciation for history, craftsmanship, and legacy that fills the pages of her novels.
